Urban Coutryman
Ramblings of a sportsman & naturalist
Andy Roberts is a countryman and field sports enthusiast with an interest in nature friendly farming. He lives in the urban fringes of South Yorkshire but has a long and unshakeable affinity with south west Scotland. He is most content when exploring fields, woods, estuaries, rivers and lakes – ideally with a dog at his side for company.
Through this blog, Andy explores the inextricably tangled and often misunderstood relationship between those who hunt, the wild game they pursue and the landscapes in which they both meet. Attempting to bridge the literary gap between country sports and nature writing.
Andy is vice-chair of The Wild Carp Trust, a registered charity (number 1196426) that exists to conserve the oldest strains of carp and to promote for the benefit of the public, including advancing their education where appropriate, the conservation protection of these fish.
